Let me tell you, I love essential oils. Some people think they’re “woo woo,” and some people think they’re the best thing ever. I fall into the latter category. Using essential oils has helped me through many panic attacks and anxious situations. I keep a roller bottle full of my favorite anxiety-busting oils in my purse, ready to go at all times. If you want to know how to overcome anxiety naturally, essential oils are at the top of my list. Here are some of the best essential oils for combating anxiety:
Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender essential oil is often referred to as the “Swiss Army Knife” of all of the oils. That’s because it can do almost anything including help to alleviate the itch of bug bites, the sting of burns, and the pain of cleaning your house. Well, maybe not the last one, but you get the idea. Seriously, though, lavender has a sedative effect which helps to promote calm when you’re feeling stressed.
To Use: Place a couple of drops in your hands and cup over your nose and mouth. Inhale and start to feel calmer in no time.
Lemongrass Essential Oil
Lemongrass essential oil is great for reducing anxious feelings and tension. Not only that, it smells great too!
To Use: Diffuse into the air with your favorite diffuser or place a few drops on a cotton ball and inhale.
Clary Sage Essential Oil
Clary sage essential oil is effective at reducing anxious feelings. In addition, it helps to regulate hormone balance.
To Use: Diffuse into the air using your favorite diffuser. The jury’s still out on whether this oil can be used during pregnancy. Some experts say it’s safe, others say it’s not. Talk to your doctor before using it if you are pregnant or nursing. Otherwise, err on the side of caution and skip this one.
Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
Ylang ylang essential oil is a flowery oil that can help to alleviate anxiety and lower stress response.

I have a specific system that I used to overcome my anxiety. But, I have to say, out of all of the strategies and tips that I implement on a daily basis, nutrition has been the most transformational of them all. Why? Food really is medicine, y’all. Real, whole foods are information to the body. Proper nutrition tells our body to make the right amounts of hormones at the right times. Good nutrition also provides our bodies with loads of fuel for optimal energy. And what mama doesn’t want more energy?
