Amazing Benefits of Coconut Oil
Over the past several years I have been on a quest to eliminate conventional chemical-laden beauty products from my bathroom cabinet and replace them with their natural counterparts. While some products have been easier to replace than others, one of my favorite beauty hacks has been to use coconut oil makeup remover in place of my mainstream eye makeup remover.
I love the versatility of coconut oil! I can use it to cook, clean, supplement my diet, improve my dog’s health, and so much more! Therefore, there is great value in every jar of coconut oil that I purchase! I used to spend a lot more on conventional name brand makeup removers (that are full of harsh ingredients) than I do on a single jar of coconut oil.
How to Use Coconut Oil Makeup Remover
To use coconut oil in place of your regular eye makeup remover, all you need to do is use it straight from the jar. No recipe or mixing is required. While you can certainly purchase a jar of coconut oil specifically for this purpose, I fill a small lidded glass container with the oil and leave it in my bathroom so that it’s handy to use every evening.
In order to use the coconut oil makeup remover, simply wet a cotton pad and squeeze out the excess moisture. Depending on the temperature, your coconut oil will either be liquid or solid. If it’s solid, simply scoop out a very small (half a dime sized) amount onto your cotton pad. If the coconut oil is liquid, lightly dip the pad into the oil. Be sure not to use too much oil as it only takes a small amount to do the job. In addition, using too much coconut oil increases the chance of you getting it in your eyes which will cause your vision to be a bit blurry for a while! After placing the coconut oil on your pad, gently wipe the pad across your eyes and use light circular motions to break down the makeup. Use the clean side of the pad to wipe away the remaining residue.
Your eyes should now be makeup free. Bonus: the coconut oil acts as a conditioner for your eyelashes and a moisturizer for the delicate skin around your eyes. I love using coconut oil makeup remover every evening as a DIY natural beauty hack to remove my makeup. I hope you do as well!
