Natural Solution for Chapped Lips
I’ve struggled with chronic chapped lips for years. And for the life of me, I couldn’t pinpoint what was causing my dry and cracked lips. I was eating clean food, drinking plenty of water, getting adequate rest, and constantly applying lip balm. Then one day it occurred to me that the ingredients in the lip products I was using could be contributing to my problem.
So I did a little experiment and purchased several all-natural lip products to replace all of my conventional ones. In about a week’s time my chapped lips healed and are now as healthy as ever.
As with any food or product we consume internally, we must be mindful of the ingredients we put on our bodies as well. Every beauty product and potion is absorbed into our skin and into our bloodstreams. That is why it is time we take a closer look at the products we choose to purchase and use. The makeup and lip balms listed below are ones that I have found to be effective and safer than conventional beauty products.
Product #1: Honeybee Gardens Lip Pencils
Honeybee Gardens’ lip pencils go on smooth and the pigment is oh-so-perfect. I’m especially fond of the colors “Island Spice” and “Zen” as they give my lips a more natural hue. I simply line my lips and fill them in. Finally, I top them off with some all-natural tinted chapstick (hint at my #2 favorite product), and I’m out the door. You can find these amazing liners here.
Product #2: Burt’s Bees Lip Balm
The Burt’s Bees company has been churning out some of the best natural products around for years. These lip balms feel so good on your lips and the tinted versions add just a hint of color to complement your Honeybee Gardens lip liners as I mentioned above. You can shop all things Burt’s Bees here.
Product #3: Coconut Oil
If you’ve followed me on Facebook for any length of time (follow me here), there’s a good chance that you’ve noticed my love for all things coconut. You can use it to supplement your diet, moisturize your skin, and much more! One of my favorite uses for coconut oil is as a moisturizer for chapped lips. I put it on my lips at night and find that it provides a lot of moisture and helps with dryness and cracking. Just be sure to purchase extra virgin organic coconut oil as it has not been overly processed. I believe every household should always keep a jar of coconut oil handy as it has a long list of uses that you can read more about here.
The bottom line: We can work hard to eat clean, but it’s important to remember that what we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put in them. It’s the whole garbage in, garbage out concept. Be kind to your body–it’s the only one you’ve got!
